Study designs of evaluations included in the review
There was no restriction on the type of study included in the review. Of the 92 included studies, 1l were randomised controlled trials(RCTs); 53 were befor and after after studies; four were case control studies and the remainder (24) were case studies, reviews or other study designs.

Interventions in the home environment (parent and child health education, distribution of free devices, safety devices such as safety gates, smoke detectors); interventions in the road environment (urban safety measures such as traffic calming schemes, road safety measures, road safety education, cycle helmets, car restraints, airbags); interventions in the leisure environment (legislation for pool fencing, interventions for pools and playgrounds, community campaigns); interventions in the workplace environment (pre-employment screening, health education, legislation).
Participants included in the review
Children and young people were included. Also included were interventions where the participants were the general population and adults.
