Only one trial, a crossover RCT (n=5), was included in the review. This study reported that AUC values were similar between patients who received twice-daily 400mg ciprofloxacin intravenously and those treated with twice-daily 750mg ciprofloxacin enterally.
Cmax was lower for 750mg ciprofloxacin (3.2μg/mL, 95% CI 1.8 to 4.6) in comparison with 400mg ciprofloxacin (6.8μg/mL, 95% CI 3.9 to 9.8). Time to maximum serum concentration was lower for 750mg ciprofloxacin (0.6 hours, 95% CI 0.3 to 0.9) in comparison with 400mg ciprofloxacin (2.1 hours, 95% CI 0.4 to 3.8).
No clinical outcomes were reported.
