100 consecutive patients identified from consultation requests, consisting of 98 men and 2 women undergoing AECG at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Centre, in the evaluation of recent stroke. AECG were reviewed to identify patients with bradyarrhythmias, tachyarrhythmias, or atrial fibrillation (AF). Patients were categorized for clinical follow-up by (1) AF documented by AECG, (2) history of AF, (3) nonsustained ventricular tachycardia of >= 6 complexes, (4) supraventricular tachycardia of >= 10 complexes, and (5) a pause of >= 3.0s. No power calculations were reported.
