The authors reported that there were no significant differences between the two groups in estimated blood loss, operative time and bile culture (the results were not shown).
At the 4-hour postoperative period, the treatment group showed significantly less pain at the standard four trocar sites:
umbilical, 1.35 (treatment) versus 3.88 (control), (p<0.001);
epigastric, 2.07 (treatment) versus 5.22 (control), (p<0.001);
right upper, 1.81 (treatment) versus 4.95 (control), (p<0.001); and
right lower, 1.72 (treatment) versus 5.27 (control), (p<0.001).
At the 24-hour period, the treatment group showed significantly less pain at the standard four trocar sites:
umbilical, 1.72 (treatment) versus 4.76 (control), (p<0.001);
epigastric, 2.19 (treatment) versus 5.34 (control), (p<0.001);
right upper, 1.81 (treatment) versus 3.83 (control), (p<0.001); and
right lower, 1.67 (treatment) versus 3.76 (control), (p<0.001).
