The cost per UR and the incremental cost per UR were used.
The overall cost per UR was Y2,377 for ELT-1 and Y3,305 for ELT-2.
The cost per UR differed depending on the TID groups. The haematological disease group had the lowest cost per UR (Y579 for ELT-1 and Y1,251 for ELT-2), while the neurological disease group had the highest (Y17,787 for ELT-1 and Y23,037 for ELT-2).
The overall incremental cost-effectiveness ratio of ELT-2 against ELT-1 was Y4,721. The smallest ratio (Y890) was for the liver or pancreatobiliary disease group, while the highest (Y30,914) was for the neurological disease group.
The cost per UR for individual test items was also examined. The lowest cost per UR was Y116 for C-reactive protein, while the highest was Y6,430 for chest X-rays.
The lowest cost per case finding was Y153 for total cholesterol level, while the highest was Y173,606 for chest X-rays.
In the suggested new ELT combination, the cost per effective test (tests that contributed to either UR generation or a case finding) were reduced for most of the 8 TID groups, except the respiratory disease group.
The incremental cost-effectiveness of the new test combination against ELT-1 was -Y3.2 for the infectious or inflammatory disease group, -Y1,140 for the gastrointestinal disease group, Y1,249 for the cardiovascular disease group, -Y107 for the metabolic or endocrine disease group, -Y46 for the liver or pancreatobiliary disease group, -Y15 for the haematological disease group, Y249 for the renal or urinary tract disease group, and Y493 for the respiratory disease group.
