Citation
Best L, Stevens A. Cognitive behavioural therapy in the treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome. Southampton: Wessex Institute for Health Research and Development (WIHRD) 1996
Authors' objectives
The author aims to determine whether the proposal for cognitive behavioural therapy to be available in the management of CFS, in order to supplement existing programmes of care, is justified.
Authors' conclusions
The authors recommend CBT as out-patient treatment for a certain group of people, but say that the criteria for the selection of those who would gain most needs clear definition. CBT is not recommended as in-patient treatment.
