Despite the effectiveness of this simple, inexpensive test, the working group found that one in five Saskatchewan women did not have a single Pap test over a five-year period (1988-1992). Women least likely to be tested were older women, who are at greater risk of developing cancer. Younger women, who are at less risk, were most likely to have had multiple tests. Saskatchewan women from rural areas, the north, and reserves are not getting tested adequately.
