After reviewing the available evidence, the working group concluded that women with normal, healthy pregnancies do not need to be routinely tested with ultrasound. Large randomized trials, generallyconsidered the 'gold standard' of scientific evidence, have not shown routine ultrasound contributes to better outcomes when used for dating, twin detection, and detection of growth disorders.
