Somatosensory evoked potentials (SEPs) measure response across peripheral nerves and in the somatosensory cortex to percutaneous stimulation of the upper and lower limbs. SEP testing has been investigated as a way to determine the prognosis for patients who are comatose following cardiac arrest.
