Authors' objectives

To assess the effcicacy, effectiveness and quality of life of intraoperative radiotherapy as a treatment for soft tissues sarcomas. To assess the safety of this treatment.

Authors' conclusions

The published evidence does not clearly show a better survival of intraoperative radiotherapy for soft tissues sarcomas compared with other procedures. It could lower the risk of local recurrence in highly selected patients. Intraoperative radiotherapy is a relatively safe procedure.
