Citation Tremblay E, Tardif M. Usage optimal à long terme des inhibiteurs de la pompe à protons. [Optimal long-term use of proton pump inhibitors] Quebec: Institut national d'excellence en sante et en services sociaux (INESSS). 2016 Authors' conclusions Upon gathering information from good clinical practice recommendations and during multiple consultations, INESSS made the following observations:
• Prescribing PPIs is unwarranted in many cases.
• It will take more than clinical tools and training to change prescribing habits.
• One of the options for implementing the recommendations concerning the coverage of long-term PPI therapy could constitute a strategy for improving PPI use.
• The RAMQ confirms the feasibility of linking INESSS's clinical recommendations to one of the options for implementing the recommendations concerning PPI coverage in order to better guide PPI prescribing.
