[Invasive electroencephalography monitoring with depth electrodes in presurgical assessment of patients with refractory epilepsy] Buenos Aires: Institute for Clinical Effectiveness and Health Policy (IECS). Documentos de Evaluación de Tecnologías Sanitarias, Informe de Respuesta Rapida No 526. 2017 Authors' conclusions Low quality evidence indicates that invasive electroencephalography monitoring with depth electrodes might be useful in defining the epileptogenic zone and eloquent cortical regions in patients who might be eligible for surgery, but whose non-invasive scans are non-concluding. High quality evidence shows that invasive electroencephalography monitoring with depth electrodes is a safe procedure with a complication rate of approximately 1%. One consensus, one clinical practice guideline and one the two United States health sponsors surveyed agree that it might be useful in these patients.
It is included in the Argentine Unique Reimbursement System as part of the epilepsy surgery module.
