Citation Mengarelli C, Bardach A, Pichon-Riviere A, Augustovski F, García Martí S, Alcaraz A, Ciapponi A. [Autologous lymph node transfer for lymphedema secondary to breast cancer] Buenos Aires: Institute for Clinical Effectiveness and Health Policy (IECS). Documentos de Evaluación de Tecnologías Sanitarias, Informe de Respuesta Rapida No 535. 2017 Authors' conclusions Very low-quality evidence suggests that lymph node transfer could decrease mastectomy-related upper-extremity lymphedema, although its length of effect is unknown. The procedure has some adverse effects (pain at the site where the lymph-node was removed, lymphocele).
The clinical practice guidelines identified as well as the private United States health sponsors consider it a technique still at experimental stage.
