Types of study to be included
All forms of study designs will be included for evaluation e.g. Randomised controlled trial, non-randomised comparative studies, observational, cohort, before and after studies. Systematic reviews.
Condition or domain being studied
Communicable forms of diarrhoea and malaria
Participants/ population
No restrictions regarding age, gender or race will be imposed.
Intervention(s), exposure(s)
Community pharmacists led interventions only; e.g., health advice and services.
Comparator(s)/ control
Other services e.g. hospital based services where such evidence is available
Outcome(s)
Primary outcomes
Resolution of symptoms.
Reduction of mortality and morbidity.
Symptom relief.
Quality of life.
Secondary outcomes
Relapse.
Patient satisfaction.
Reduction in number of pharmacy visits.
Data extraction, (selection and coding)
A data extraction tool will be developed. Independent, duplicate data extraction will be undertaken for each study.
Risk of bias (quality) assessment
Quality assessment: will be conducted as part of the data extraction process and independent, duplicate quality assessment of each study will be undertaken. Validated tools developed by CASP and ReBIP and the Cochrane tool will be used.
