Does Parkinson's disease affect the length of hospital and/or ICU stay after abdominal surgery?
Searches
The PubMed, EMBASE and Cochrane bibliographic libraries will be used to retrieve all publications referring to Parkinson's disease without any language, publication period, or other restrictions.
- Experimental studies involving animals, basic science in vivo/in vitro
- Purely translational studies (human tissue but experimental without long term outcomes)
- Published conference abstracts

- Parkinson's disease
- Patients undergoing abdominal surgery
Exclusion criteria
- Patients undergoing other types of surgery than abdominal surgery (also excluding neurosurgery)

Comparator(s)/ control
Patients with parkinson disease who undergo abdominal surgery will be compared to patients without this condition who also undergo abdominal surgery.

Risk of bias (quality) assessment
The Oxford and GRADE systems will be used to assess the quality of the individual studies.
Strategy for data synthesis
Both aggregate and at the level of individual manuscripts will be used for narrative as well as quantitative synthesis.
