A key aim of PROSPERO is to reduce unplanned duplication of reviews, and promote efficient use of resources. The NIHR HTA Programme demonstrated success for this aim: they decided not to commission research on restricted elimination diet in Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder when PROSPERO revealed that an overlapping research project was already in progress.

Scope for eligibility has been expanded to include:

• Systematic reviews of reviews
• Systematic reviews of methodological issues as long as they contain at least one outcome of direct patient or clinical relevance
