Two studies received a PEDro score of 8, three scored 7, three were graded as 6, one scored 5, and one scored 4.
Hospital length of stay (8 RCTs).
Acute hospital length of stay was reduced in 6 studies as a result of early supported discharge programmes. Two studies found no significant difference in hospital stay between early supported discharge and usual care.
Functional outcomes (8 RCTs).
Eight studies that used the Barthel Index or the Modified Barthel Index found no significant difference in functional outcome between early supported discharge and conventional care.
