Randomised controlled trials (RCTs) of service interventions with information provision as a key service component that reported standardised outcome assessments for people with dementia or their caregivers were eligible for inclusion.
Most studies were conducted in the USA, with the remainder conducted in Asia, Russia, Finland and Italy. Interventions involved other elements such as skills training or telephone support alongside the provision of information. Interventions were delivered by a range of health and social care professionals.
Three authors selected trials for inclusion through consensus.
