Citation MindStreams cognitive health assessment (NeuroTrax Corp.) product suite (U.S. Clinical Edition) for assessing mild cognitive impairment. Lansdale: HAYES, Inc.. Healthcare Technology Brief Publication. 2013 Authors' conclusions Cognitive impairment is associated with a variety of conditions including dementia in the elderly, schizophrenia, and multiple sclerosis (MS). Recently the concept of mild cognitive impairment has emerged, i.e., impaired cognition preceding dementia. Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) occurs in 17% to 34% of the elderly population and leads to Alzheimer's disease (AD) at a rate of 10% to 15% per year. The reference standard for assessment of cognitive function is a time-consuming and comprehensive battery of neuropsychological tests administered by a psychologist or a psychiatrist. Computerized cognitive testing, an alternative or supplement to standard testing, is quicker and can
be administered by other types of healthcare providers.
