Rapid Response - Summary with Critical Appraisal. 2014 Authors' conclusions Four meta-analyses, one systematic review, and five randomized-controlled trials were included in this review. The available evidence indicates the use of dexmedetomidine was associated with decreased ICU stay and decreased time on mechanical ventilation. However, it was associated with higher rates of bradycardia than comparators.
