Rapid Review. 2013 Authors' objectives The objective of this rapid review is to assess the effectiveness of monotherapy versus combination therapy in adults hospitalized with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP). Authors' conclusions Based on the results of this rapid review, there does not appear to be a significant difference in mortality or treatment failure in hospitalized patients receiving monotherapy versus combination therapy for community-acquired pneumonia. A broader evidence-based analysis of the literature may alter these results.
