Citation CADTH. The use of the electromotive drug administration system in patients with overactive bladder: a review of the clinical effectiveness, safety, and cost-effectiveness. Ottawa: Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health (CADTH). Rapid Response. 2014 Authors' conclusions Clinical evidence on the effectiveness of EMDA for treatment of overactive bladder is limited, and studies on cost-effectiveness could not be identified. EMDA therapy with botulinum toxin A for treatment of refractory neurogenic detrusor overactivity in children appears to be efficacious, while that with dexamethasone for treatment of idiopathic detrusor overactivity in adults does not.
