Eficacia de las terapias conductuales tempranas e intensivas en los Trastornos del Espectro Autista. [Efficacy of early intensive behavioral intervention in autism spectrum disorders] Buenos Aires: Institute for Clinical Effectiveness and Health Policy (IECS). Informe de Respuesta Rapida No. 404. 2015 Authors' objectives To assess the available evidence on the efficacy, safety and issues related to coverage policies for the use of early intensive behavioral interventions in patients with autism spectrum disorder. Authors' conclusions The quality of the evidence found is low. It shows that an EIBI program could yield an improvement on different ASD features. However, with the methodology used in the studies, it is not possible to establish whether EIBI is better than the other treatments or not, which elements of therapy are responsible for these benefits, the best starting age, the frequency and duration of the program, which subgroup of children may benefit, long-term duration of benefits, or if they translate into a quality of life improvement. There is consensus among the different international societies to consider EIBI as an alternative for ASD treatment. ASD treatment coverage is mandatory in different countries and jurisdictions in compliance with local regulations, although it is not yet clear which treatment or methodologies should be used.
