The following model input parameters were identified for cardiac transplant patients:
the mortality rate for pre-transplantation cholecystectomy was 8% (range: 0 to 33);
the mortality rate for post-transplantation prophylactic cholecystectomy was 0.05% (range: 0.01 to 3);
the mortality rate for post-transplantation emergency cholecystectomy was 37% (range: 0 to 43);
the mortality rate for post-transplantation elective cholecystectomy was 0.05% (range: 0.01 to 3);
the likelihood of developing post-transplantation biliary symptoms was 38% (range: 6 to 58); and
the likelihood of requiring an emergency cholecystectomy post-transplantation was 25.8% (range: 14 to 41)
The following model input parameters were identified for renal and/or pancreatic transplant patients:
the mortality rate for pre-transplantation cholecystectomy was 0.05% (range: 0.001 to 3);
the mortality rate for post-transplantation prophylactic cholecystectomy was 0.05% (range: 0.01 to 3);
the mortality rate for post-transplantation emergency cholecystectomy was 5.6% (range: 0.05 to 17);
the mortality rate for post-transplantation elective cholecystectomy was 0.05% (range: 0.01 to 3);
the likelihood of developing post-transplantation biliary symptoms was 13% (no range); and
the likelihood of requiring an emergency cholecystectomy post-transplantation was 26.4% (range: 23 to 37.5).
