Catheter-directed thrombolysis for acute peripheral arterial occlusion is a percutaneous procedure in which plasminogen activators are delivered via a catheter directly to the site of arterial thrombosis. The objective is to dissolve the clot and resolve the blockage that threatens viability of the extremities.
