Citation Pham B, Krahn M. End-of-life care interventions: an economic analysis. Toronto: Health Quality Ontario (HQO). Ontario Health Technology Assessment Series (OHTAS) 14(18). 2014 Authors' conclusions In-home palliative team care for individuals nearing EoL (at home and in LTC) reduced health care costs and improved health outcomes for patients nearing the end of life. The population impact of this intervention is potentially large—particularly the potential for reducing acute care utilization and improving in-home EoL care services.
With respect to the other interventions we evaluated, firm conclusions were not possible without additional data collected concurrently from patients and caregivers—especially QALY calculations.
