Citation Brito V, Ciapponi A, Pichon-Riviere A, Augustovski F, García Martí S, Alcaraz A, Bardach A, López A, Rey-Ares L. Magnetic resonance neurography to study peripheral neuropathies. Buenos Aires: Institute for Clinical Effectiveness and Health Policy (IECS). Informe de Respuesta Rapida No. 497. 2016 Authors' conclusions There is no evidence having shown clinical benefits with the inclusion of magnetic resonance neurography as a diagnostic tool in neuropathies, plexopathies and polyneuropathies of different etiologies.
Very low-quality evidence shows that magnetic resonance neurography might contribute to identifying certain structural abnormalities in the peripheral nerves.
The clinical practice guidelines identified point out magnetic resonance neurography as an imaging technology still at investigational stage; which so far has not proved to be better than the standard diagnostic tests to study neuropathies.
Most coverage policies identified from foreign sponsors do not cover magnetic resonance neurography because they consider it at experimental stage.
In Argentina, magnetic resonance neurography is not included in the Mandatory Medical Program.
