Ottawa: Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health (CADTH). 2012 Authors' conclusions Limited evidence suggests that true fast imaging with steady state precession (trueFISP) MRI techniques result in a higher rate of detection of pineal cysts and fewer unconfirmed diagnoses compared with other MRI methods. No controlled trials of treatment interventions were identified; evidence on treatment is mainly found in case reports. No evidence-based guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of pineal gland cysts were identified.
